Peppermint is a perennial plant that traditionally grows wild throughout Central Europe and countries surrounding the Mediterranean. Now Peppermint is grown around the world as demand increases with the United States of America leading the way with the commercial production, our preference is for the quality of Peppermint’s grown nearer.

There are over 30 varieties of Mint including Spearmints, Apple Mint, Orange Mint and Pineapple Mint. This Tea is a cut Peppermint that was grown in the fertile Egyptian Province of Sharkia in the Nile Delta Valley. This variety is Mentha Piperita Black sometimes called English Mint or Mint of England, one of the most fragrant of the Mint Family. Widely used for culinary purposes, medicinal uses as an essential oil and as a great fresh tasting Tisane Tea when infused with boiling water. Peppermint has been used over the centuries by the Egyptians, the Romans and the ancient Greeks who used to hang sprigs of peppermint as a symbol of hospitality ( known as “Filoxenia” in Greek ), it also helped to keep large rodents at bay! Peppermint Tea can be found growing wild in gardens and river beds, the wild leaves can be picked and brewed with boiling water. Our Peppermint Teas are naturally dried and then used as whole leaves or cut and graded into cut and fine cut varieties. Peppermint leaves can be blended with Black Teas to create stronger tea infusions, we have our own blend of China Loose Leaf Black Tea with Peppermint Leaves. Natural Oils for flavouring are also produced from the Peppermint Plant and we use this to produce flavoured Green Teas, Black Teas and our new Peppermint Matcha Tea. Peppermint is renown for its many medicinal properties to calm and relax the Mind and sooth the Body.

Brewing Guide : Use boiling water (100 degrees) , infuse for 5 to 10 minutes.

How to Serve : Without Milk or with a Slice of Lemon. Can be used as a base for making Iced Tea. Also can be blended with Green Teas such as a China Sencha Green Tea or a Gunpowder Green Tea to create a Morrocan Mint Style Tea. A Mint Jelup can be created by adding and infusing Peppermint Leaves with Alcohol, often Whisky is used.
